Ben Rubinowitz to Present Multiple Trial Advocacy Lectures at Trial Lawyers University in Huntington Beach

Managing Partner Ben Rubinowitz of Gair, Gair, Conason, Rubinowitz, Bloom, Hershenhorn, Steigman & Mackauf will serve as a featured lecturer at Trial Lawyers University in Huntington Beach from June 3–6, presenting a series of advanced programs on cross-examination, voir dire, jury selection, direct examination, and closing argument strategy.

Widely recognized as one of the nation’s leading trial lawyers, Rubinowitz regularly lectures attorneys throughout the United States on trial advocacy, jury persuasion, witness examination, and courtroom strategy. At this year’s program, he will present multiple workshops and lectures alongside nationally known trial attorney Michael Kelly of Walkup, Melodia, Kelly + Schoenberger, sharing practical techniques developed through decades of courtroom experience handling catastrophic injury, medical malpractice, transportation, and construction accident cases.

On Wednesday, Rubinowitz and Kelly will lead both morning and afternoon workshops titled “Cross Examination: Destroying Defense Experts: A Step by Step Approach to Success.” The workshops will focus on techniques used to challenge difficult defense experts, address complex medical and economic damages, handle pain and suffering claims, and build the foundation for a compelling summation. Demonstrations and real-life examples from hundreds of trials will be featured throughout the presentations.

On Thursday morning, Rubinowitz and Kelly will present a workshop on Voir Dire, examining how effective jury selection can shape the entire trial. The lecture will focus on questioning jurors regarding pain and suffering awards, economic damages, wrongful death cases, comparative fault issues, and strategies for laying the groundwork for substantial verdicts. The presentation will also explore how juror responses during voir dire can later be incorporated into opening statements and summation.

Later Thursday afternoon, Rubinowitz and Kelly will continue with a Track 1 session on Jury Selection, further examining advanced voir dire techniques and the importance of listening carefully to juror responses in order to build credibility and strengthen the overall trial narrative.

On Friday, Rubinowitz will present “Final Argument: Maximizing the Damages Award,” a lecture centered on delivering persuasive and memorable closing arguments. The program will focus on connecting themes developed throughout trial, using testimony from direct and cross-examinations effectively in summation, incorporating analogies and metaphors, discussing damages with jurors, and utilizing demonstrative exhibits to maximize the impact of the closing argument.

On Saturday morning, Rubinowitz will present “Direct & Cross Exam,” an advanced lecture examining the techniques behind effective witness examination. Drawing from hundreds of real-life trials, Rubinowitz will discuss how lawyers can successfully address difficult medical issues, financial and economic damages, pain and suffering evidence, and opposing expert testimony while setting the stage for a compelling final argument.
