The conference brought together members of the judiciary, experienced trial attorneys, and legal professionals to discuss important issues in medical malpractice litigation and courtroom advocacy.
Presenting Damages: The Plaintiff’s Perspective
Marijo participated in the conference’s concluding panel, “Trial Practice – Presenting and Defending Damages,” delivering a presentation titled “Presenting Damages: The Plaintiff’s Perspective.”

Effectively presenting damages is a critical component of medical malpractice litigation. While establishing negligence and causation is essential, plaintiffs’ attorneys must also demonstrate how medical errors have affected their clients’ lives, often with permanent consequences.
This involves communicating complex medical evidence, explaining the nature and extent of injuries, and helping juries understand the physical, emotional, and financial consequences of medical negligence.
Drawing on her extensive experience representing individuals who have suffered catastrophic injuries as a result of medical malpractice, Marijo shared the plaintiff’s perspective on this important aspect of trial practice.
Sharing Trial Experience With the Legal Community
Throughout her career, Marijo has represented victims of serious medical negligence in complex cases involving devastating and life-altering injuries.
Her participation in the New York City Bar’s Medical Malpractice Conference reflects her ongoing commitment to trial advocacy, professional education, and the exchange of knowledge among members of the legal profession.
Gair, Gair, Conason, Rubinowitz, Bloom, Hershenhorn, Steigman & Mackauf is proud of Marijo’s continued contributions to the legal community and her dedication to advocating for individuals and families affected by medical negligence.
