Jeff%20Bloom.jpgJeff Bloom, a partner at New York personal injury law firm Gair, Gair, Conason, Rubinowitz, Bloom, Hershenhorn, Steigman & Mackauf, will be speaking at “Bridging the Gap”, a special CLE program for recent graduates and newly admitted attorneys put on by the New York State Bar Association.

This two-day program will be presented in New York City on December 10th and 11th and broadcast live to other locations, in Albany and Buffalo, in an interactive video conference format, allowing “real time” interaction between all locations. This program is approved for MCLE credit for newly admitted attorneys in all locations, regardless of format.

Jeff will speak on Wednesday December 11th at 2:55 pm and will provide an overview on how to handle a medical malpractice case. Since joining the firm in 1979, Jeff has carved out a reputation as one of the top medical malpractice and personal injury attorneys in New York. Jeff%20Bloom.png Our partner, New York Personal Injury Attorney Jeff Bloom is representing the parents of the teenager who sustained second and third degrees burns from an explosion and resulting fire caused by a Rainbow Experiment conducted in a chemistry lab by his teacher Anna Poole (for more info see our previous blogs in January and June)

A suit was filed yesterday in Manhattan Supreme Court. The suit alleges among other claims that the accident was the result of “gross negligence” as well as “abject dereliction and reckless disregard” for the safety of students and staff by the City Department of Education.

Jeff further commented in The New York Post “He’s horrifically scarred, wearing all sorts of protective clothing and a brace on his neck.” It was a parent’s worst nightmare, adding that the “courageous” 11th grader is back in class at the prestigious Beacon.

An effective trial attorney must thoroughly prepare for all stages of the trial, including a voir dire that explores the feelings and beliefs of the potential jurors, and a strong summation that relates those feelings and beliefs to the evidence.

The 50 personal injury firms selected for this list have been doing the most creative and substantial work on the plaintiff side.

To qualify for inclusion, firms had to have scored at least one significant plaintiffs win between Jan. 1, 2013, and June 30, 2014, and possess an impressive track record of wins within the past three to five years. A “significant win” meant prevailing in a bench or jury trial or in a major settlement where the stakes were high-for example, a substantial amount of money was at stake or the outcome could have affected litigation strategy or results in similar cases nationally. Also, firms had to devote at least 50 percent of their litigation resources to plaintiffs work and derive half or more of their revenue from plaintiffs-side activities. Firms with higher percentages of plaintiffs-side work were considered.
