11-Year-Old Pedestrian Critically Injured in Brooklyn Hit-and-Run on Ocean Parkway
An 11-year-old pedestrian was struck and critically injured Monday evening in Gravesend, Brooklyn, by the driver of a black Acura sedan who fled the scene, according to police reports. The hit-and-run occurred around 5:50 p.m. near Avenue V and Ocean Parkway, an intersection known for heavy pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
Witnesses described a chaotic and heartbreaking scene.
“I heard the crash. I saw the boy laying flat on the street not moving,” said Renee Beyda, 60, who witnessed the impact. Debris from the crash also injured a 25-year-old man, who suffered leg injuries and was heard screaming in pain as bystanders rushed to help.
Both victims were transported by EMS to Maimonides Medical Center. The boy remains in critical condition, while the 25-year-old is reportedly in stable condition.
