A 68-year-old man lost his life after being hit by a box truck in the Bronx on October 28th. According to police, the fatal collision occurred around 12:23 p.m. at the intersection of East 149th Street and Third Avenue in Melrose — a busy area known for heavy truck and pedestrian traffic.

Authorities said the victim was walking south across the crosswalk when a 2019 Isuzu box truck traveling west on East 149th Street struck him, causing severe leg injuries. Emergency responders transported the man to Lincoln Hospital, where he was initially listed in stable condition but tragically succumbed to his injuries later that evening at approximately 7:02 p.m. His name has not yet been released pending family notification.

Deadly Bronx Intersection of E 149th St & Morris AveA 52-year-old pedestrian, Inza Fofana, tragically died after being struck by a van while crossing the street at E. 149th Street and Morris Avenue in Mott Haven. The fatal crash occurred around 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday when a 2019 Ford Transit van, driven by a 48-year-old man, was attempting a left turn onto Morris Avenue. Fofana was transported to Lincoln Hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries.

A 65-ylocation of the fatal Bronx truck accidentear-old woman was fatally struck by a flatbed truck while crossing Franklin Avenue at East 169th Street in the Bronx on Monday morning. The devastating collision, which occurred just minutes after she visited a local bodega, underscores the persistent dangers pedestrians face on New York City streets—especially in areas with high truck traffic.

Surveillance footage (see video below) revealed that the victim, who used a cane and walked with a limp, was in the crosswalk when the truck began to move forward. As a yellow cab made a turn, the truck—seemingly preparing for a wide right turn—rolled over the woman, pinning her under its front right wheel. Despite frantic efforts from bystanders to alert the driver, the impact proved fatal. Emergency responders rushed the woman to Lincoln Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The 43-year-old truck driver remained at the scene and has not been charged as of now, but police continue to investigate. According to records, the truck has accumulated multiple traffic violations in recent years, including red-light infractions and speeding in a school zone—raising serious concerns about the vehicle’s history and the driver’s responsibility.

62 year old Tian-Rong Lin was crossing Seward Avenue in the Bronx when a van making a left turn from Olmstead Avenue struck her. The accident occurred on Saturday morning around 11:00 am. The driver, 54 year old Ramon Cedeno-Ortiz, stayed at the scene of the accident. He was charged with failure to exercise due care and failure to yield to a pedestrian.

location of the Bronx fatal dump truck accidentA 76 year old pedestrian was fatally struck by a dump truck in the Bronx, NYC, on Monday morning. 76 year old Lola Blair was crossing Enstein Loop around 11:45 am when she was hit by a dump truck making a left turn from the Hutchinson River Parkway service road onto Einstein Loop.  The dump truck driver first continued to drive but then returned to the scene of the accident. The woman was rushed to the hospital where she died from her injuries. She was living nearby, in Co-op city.

Drivers, especially truck drivers must exercise due care when driving in residential areas but so far the NYPD did not charge the dump truck driver for failure to exercise due care.

On Friday another pedestrian was fatally struck by a garbage truck in Brooklyn ( see previous blog).
