accident sceneA livery car crashed into scaffolding and injured several people including a child. ABC7 reported that the crash occurred Saturday night around 9:45 pm in Harlem, New York. Very few details were provided as to what caused the crash and who were the victims. Pictures however show that the impact was strong as it destroyed the scaffolding.

Less than 24 hours earlier in Harlem, a pedestrian was seriously injured by a hit and run driver. The 32 year old man was visiting from Syracuse. The man was crossing Broadway near 125th street when he was struck by a car. The car must have hit the pedestrian at high speed as its bumper fell off after the crash. Despite a man on the ground and part of his car missing, the driver sped off and disappeared into the night. The police are still looking for him. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital. He suffered face injuries and a fractured left elbow according to the NY Daily News.

In Brooklyn, two people were injured in a crash involving a police car. The crash took place Monday afternoon in Park Slope according to the NY Daily News .

drunk driving A woman died in a car accident in New York Yesterday. The accident was caused by a drunk driver. 49 year old Aissatou Diallo was travelling with her 16 year old son on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway on their way to a wedding. A relative who was traveling in front of them had a flat tire. They stopped to help him. As Aissatou was waiting next to her car, a drunk driver rear ended her car. The car careened into the mother and sent her flying off the elevated highway. After the accident, the drunk driver tried to flee the scene of the accident on foot. He was chased  by Diallo’s son who caught him and held him until the arrival of the police. Diallo’s son told the police that the driver, 43 year old Vladimir Menin, was so drunk that he couldn’t speak coherently.  Aissatou Diallo was transported to the hospital in critical condition. She later died from her injuries.

32 year old Michelle Mignott was killed in a car accident in New York City in 2014. The two reckless drivers who were indicted in the accident will be tried in August if they don’t accept a plea deal. Richard Roman-Santos and Gerard Herbert both charged with vehicular manslaughter appeared yesterday in front of Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Vincent Del Giudice. The judge told then that if no plea agreement was reached the case would go to trial on August 1st. The two men were previously offered 3 to 9 years in jail if they pleaded guilty but they both refused.

On August 17th 2014, Herbert was driving in Brooklyn with two female passengers. One of them, Michelle Mignott was lying on the back seat. As he was making a left turn, Roman-Santos who was driving at a speed of 94 miles per hours crashed into him. Mignott was killed in the accident. Herbert who first refused to take a breathalyzer was later tested with .20.  Roman Santos accepted the breathalyzer and was found to be at the limit of .08.

The two men are expected to be back in front of the judge on June 7th and will have to say if they accept the plea deal or not.

An off-duty drunk NYPD detective side-swiped a car and crashed into a hair Salon. Then his two off duty colleagues, also drunk, got him into their vehicle and fled the scene of the accident leaving the other car behind. All 3 were suspended without pay for 30 days and are being internally investigated.

Officer Vincent Mollini was celebrating his promotion to lieutenant with detectives Christopher Corulla and Franck Muirhead at the Rookies Sport Bar in Staten Island a few weeks ago. They left the bar drunk. Detective Corulla got in his car and as he was trying to leave, he damaged the car of a DJ working in a nearby bar before backing up into the Hair-Do or Dye Salon. Officer Mollini and Detective Muirhead then loaded Corulla in their vehicle and attempted to flee the scene of the accident. The DJ whose car was damaged chased them and caught them at a nearby red light. The officers told the DJ they were cops and that Corulla was sick from food poisoning. The DJ agreed to meet them again the following day to settle up. The accident wasn’t reported until Saturday morning.  All 3 officers have been suspended without pay and are being investigated by the Force Investigation Division.

A pedestrian died and another one suffered personal injury after they were struck by a drunk driver in Washington Heights, New York City, early Saturday. The two pedestrians, a man and a woman in their 40ies  were walking on West 181st Street near Amsterdam Avenue when a car crashed into them. The driver, identified as 34 year old Jonathan Segura, was drunk. He had just exited the George Washington Bridge when he lost control of his vehicle and slammed into the pedestrians. He sped off in the night but returned later to the police station to surrender. He was charged with drunk driving, leaving the scene of an accident, vehicular manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide.

A woman in her thirties suffered critical personal injury after she was pinned between a car and a a wall by a drunk driver who slammed into a Bronx produce stand yesterday. Another pedestrian was injured by flying debris. The 68 year old driver stayed at the scene of the accident and was taken into custody by the police. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and he is now facing criminal charges.

NYPD.jpgA 30 year NYPD Veteran who was off duty crashed his car while he was driving under the influence during the snow storm when all non-emergency vehicles were supposed to be off the road. He was arrested after he hit another vehicle at East 58th Street and Kings Highway in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, NYC. The police wouldn’t say if the cop had just gotten off work when the car accident happened.

22 year old Irina Danilyuk was hospitalized in critical condition after her car burst into fire following an accident during which she first hit a car and then a tree while driving drunk on the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn, NYC. The young woman suffers from multiple injuries including cuts to her head, burns on her back and legs as well as internal injuries. The car accident happened early Saturday morning around 3:45. In another incident of drunk driving, the Staten Island police found a drunk driver asleep at the wheel with an open can of beer in his cup holder in the middle of traffic on the West Shore Expressway (Read more in the Staten Island Live)

Richard Romano Santos and Gerrard Herbert were both drunk when they crashed into each other on Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn, NYC, a few months ago. Michelle Mignot who was lying down on the back seat of Herbert’s car was killed during the accident. Both men were charged together for the death of Michelle Mignot and they are facing up to 15 years in jail.
