Moments later, he slammed head-on into a Honda Pilot traveling lawfully through the intersection at Central Avenue and Gates Avenue.

A pedestrian was fatally struck in the early hours of Saturday morning in Brooklyn, in yet another tragic reminder of the dangers that pedestrians face on New York City streets. The fatal hit-and-run occurred at the intersection of Broadway and Suydam Street, on the border of Bedford-Stuyvesant and Bushwick, around 3:45 a.m.

According to the NYPD, the 47-year-old man was crossing the street when he was hit by a vehicle traveling north on Broadway. The driver fled the scene, leaving the victim to die in the roadway. Police responding to the scene found the man deceased.

The incident occurred just before 10 a.m. near the intersection of Cropsey Avenue and 17th Avenue.

The vehicle involved, a transport van operated by D & J Ambulette Services, was carrying adult passengers with special needs when it veered off the road and struck a tree. Witnesses stated the 44-year-old driver attempted to swerve to avoid another vehicle, causing the van to lose control and crash. Initial reports from ABC7NY confirmed that 12 individuals were transported to NYU Langone Hospital for evaluation, while News12 placed the number of injuries at 14. Among the injured, one person suffered a leg injury, and another sustained a head laceration.

Location of the hit and run accident on Court Street and Atlantic AveA 4-year-old boy is recovering from his injuries after being struck by an SUV in a hit-and-run crash that occurred Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Court Street and Atlantic Avenue in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn. According to the NYPD, the crash happened just before 5 p.m. as the child was crossing the street with his family.

Police say the driver was traveling eastbound on Court Street in a right-turn-only lane but failed to turn, instead continuing straight through the intersection—illegally—before hitting the child in the ankle. The driver then made a left onto Atlantic Avenue and fled the scene without stopping. The young victim was transported to Cobble Hill Hospital in stable condition.
